Date filtering
Every list endpoint requires at least one date filter. Choosing the right timestamp is the most important decision when building an ingestion job.
Required on every request
You must supply at least one of
created_from, created_to, updated_from or updated_to. Otherwise the API returns 400 missing_required_param.Parameters#
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
created_from | string (YYYY-MM-DD) | one of four* | Return rows whose created_at is on or after this date. |
created_to | string (YYYY-MM-DD) | one of four* | Return rows whose created_at is on or before this date. |
updated_from | string (YYYY-MM-DD) | one of four* | Return rows whose updated_at is on or after this date. |
updated_to | string (YYYY-MM-DD) | one of four* | Return rows whose updated_at is on or before this date. |
* At least one of the four is required. Dates use YYYY-MM-DD format; both bounds are inclusive. When you pass several parameters they are combined with AND.
created_at vs updated_at#
Both timestamps exist on every record, but they answer different questions:
| Filter on | Catches | Misses |
|---|---|---|
created_at | Rows that were inserted in the window. | Rows that were created earlier and modified later — e.g. an order that moves from Processing to Shipped. |
updated_at | Rows inserted and rows modified in the window. A new row has updated_at equal to created_at. | Nothing that still exists — every change moves updated_at forward. |
Example
An order is placed on March 1st and shipped on March 3rd:
Timeline
created_at = 2026-03-01T09:12:44Z status = Processing
updated_at = 2026-03-03T15:03:10Z status = Shipped| Request | Returns this order? |
|---|---|
created_from=2026-03-03 | No — it was created on March 1st. |
updated_from=2026-03-03 | Yes — it was modified on March 3rd. |
For incremental ingestion, filter on updated_*
If you load by
created_*, you will never see later status changes for rows you already have. Use updated_from and upsert on id.Combining filters#
Bound a window by combining a lower and upper date:
