Read-only role

Direct connections use the student_ro role, which can only read two tables.

Permissions#

No write access. INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and DDL statements are rejected.
No access to other tables. Use the REST API for shipments, products and users.
60 second statement timeout. Queries running longer are cancelled.

Querying a table you cannot access

Exceeding the statement timeout

ERROR:  canceling statement due to statement timeout

Always filter on a timestamp window instead of scanning whole tables.
Load large backfills in small windows (a day at a time) and page through each with ORDER BY and LIMIT.
Select only the columns you need.
